Team Ian Wiggin! (Updated)

Today at crew allocation I found out my skipper will be Ian Wiggin and I will be on the Unicef boat! The Unicef boat is bright blue so you will easily see which on I’m on. It’s been a crazy busy day so I might now going to find out what boat I’m on for level 2, I’ll let your know how’s it goes! FYI We still do not know where leg 8 will start other than on the east coast of the USA but we do know the start and finish location will be at St Katharines Dock in London.

39 Hours To Go!

Crew Allocation is now literally around the corner immediately followed by level 2 and 3 training, I am slightly excited. OK maybe that’s an understatement, I cant wait!

I have been wondering what to do with my hair whilst at sea with no means of washing it other than a bucket of water in a moving boat at 45 Degrees. I have decided to test a different approach to hair maintenance for my back to back training, my hairdresser has kindly braided my hair (shes an absolute legend!). Hopefully it will stay braided for the training weeks so I wont have to wash, brush or think about it which sounds heavenly.

What do you think?

Crew Allocation

On the 11th of May something very exciting is going to happen; the Crew Allocation Meeting. This is where the Clipper Crew Members will be allocated a crew team, their skipper ( to read about the skippers click HERE )and their teams yacht!

Each of the Eleven 70ft Clipper Racing Yachts will have a crew team comprising of around 60 crew members. This will include people who are taking part in the individual Legs and those who are fortunate enough to be completing their full circumnavigation. I shall be taking part in Leg 8 which is the final leg crossing the Atlantic Ocean from the East side of America back to the UK. Leg 8 will take around 22 Days at sea with one stopover which will split the leg into 2 races. To read more about the Leg I am competing in or the other legs click HERE

After the Crew Allocation (12th of May) I will be starting my level 2 and 3 training back to back which I hope is going to be as good as it sounds; A Sea Survival Course, Night Sailing, Around The Clock Watch System Sailing, Sailing a Clipper 70ft Yacht, Spinnaker Sailing and more. I may be absolutely knackered by the end of May but I’ll still be smiling!
